I have been a member of AQHA for many years and have enjoyed the benefits of membership. My favorite one is belonging to the Horseback Riding Program. This program is a fun way to set goals for your riding. As if riding isn’t enough to get your going, it is a way to help you set and reach your bench marks or connect to the many events supported by AQHA.

I have been a member EPRHA and the only time I showed was at their show. It was a hot day in July and I was in the last class and the last rider of the day. I was wearing everyone else’s stuff, but my horse was all mine and he was great and that was the best part of the whole thing.

Horse Trainers:

Professional Reining Horse Trainers from my 3 month cross country trip 2017

I want to thank all these great horse people for welcoming me, my horse Irish and my mom to their farms. Without them my dream of learning from many different horse trainers would not be happening.

Travel Tips:

BE ORGANZED!!!

Packing lists for each part of your trip can help focus your efforts. I develop multiple lists which I will be sharing with you. I am using an excel document, but you can use any program you like. When I started the lists I quickly realized that breaking the check list into three columns really helped. I used one for things I have, one for things I needed to get and one for the things that are packed. By using this layout it helped me shop for things I needed after I did a complete inventory of what I had. Once the item is packed in the trailer or truck I marked it packed. Doing this helps spread out the packing and prevents thinking something is packed to find out later it was not. Once an item is packed do not take it out of the trailer or truck without marking it back on one of the other columns. Having the list allows for a more efficient packing “party” when everyone knows what is packed and what still needs to be. You could even divided the list up so each person only has to focus on their part of the list.

When you are traveling with a horse you really want to be sure that you have everything you need for them. You never know if you will have access to items once you get to your location. Your list may be different from mine, so make sure you change the items as you see fit and enjoy your travels with your horse.
